Last Thursday, Linda and I were thinking about what to do for date night.  “Dinner and a movie” can be fun, but it can feel mundane.  We wanted something that would be creative, inexpensive, and conversational.  I found a web site with some ideas that began to percolate.  The result?  A kind of scavenger hunt at Barnes and Noble.

We split up and went on our scavenger hunt, sharing our findings half-way through at the in-store Starbucks.  For the second “half,” we mostly stuck together.  Try your own variation - or some categories that interest you.

Ten Questions for Date Night at B&N

(1)    Cooking: What dish would you like to try?

(2)    Travel: What new place would you like to visit when we retire?

(3)    Fiction: What title intrigues you without looking at anything but the spine?

(4)    Children’s: What book would you like to read to your first grandchild?

(5)    Self-help: What skill or personal improvement would you add if you could snap your fingers?

(6)    Starbucks: What beverage would you like to sip while we compare notes for #1-5?

(7)    General: What book or set of books would you buy if money were no object?

(8)    Music: What CD would you like to have in your car?

(9)    Christian: What ministry resource would you like to have in your professional library?

(10)General:  What book would you like for your next birthday or gift holiday?
