HOLY WEEK BASKET

Start your Holy Week basket by lining a medium sized basket with palm fronds from church today.  Use a substitute if you don’t have palm leaves.

Do you remember asking your Mom, “Why?”   When she answered, “Because I said so,” you said, “I will NEVER say that to my kids.”

How’s that working for you?

Two of Jesus’ disciples found a donkey and untied it to take it to Jesus.  When questioned what they were doing, they answered as Jesus had told them, “The Lord needs it.” 

Sometimes we just need to do what the Lord asks us to do whether or not it makes sense to us at the time. 

As parents, we realize that sometimes we can’t give a reason to a child, sometimes we don’t want to, and sometimes we know they won’t understand or agree.  Children have to learn that “Because I said so” is a good enough reason to obey.

So it is with the Lord.  Sometimes we are quite sure that we know what he wants; we just don’t know why.  The best and only reason for doing what we know he asks of us is because he said so.

PRAYER

            Lord Jesus, so increase my trust in you that I obey without asking questions.
