It is, to say the least, an interesting experience to sit on the “lectern side” in the sanctuary while someone else speaks from the pulpit where I usually preach.  That is especially true when the speaker’s views on faith, politics, and the church differ from your own.

“Here is the path to the higher life.  Down, lower down!”  When I first read Andrew Murray’s classic, Humility, as a young man, I wrote in the margin, “PARADOX!”

It strikes me as somewhat odd that Christians should be admonished to think.  Is “non-thinking Christian” not an oxymoron?  Apparently not.  It should be.
